An operator may request information to verify identity, age, account ownership or compliance. The exact list and timing should be read in the current Betika instructions; we have not submitted documents or tested review times.
Check why information is requested
Read the message in your account and compare it with the operator’s help or terms page. Confirm which document is requested, how it will be used, what formats are accepted and how to submit it securely. If the request came by SMS or social media, navigate to the official website instead of replying to the message.
Do not send identity documents to an unverified address or post them publicly. A request for your password, M-PESA PIN or one-time code is not an identity document check.
Keep account details consistent
Accurate personal information and a payment method you control can help reduce avoidable mismatches. If a name or phone number has changed, ask support how to update the account through the documented process instead of opening a duplicate.
The operator’s requirements may vary depending on the issue or applicable rules. We do not claim a fixed document list or approval period.
Protect copies and follow up
Use only the secure upload route in the account. Keep a note of what you submitted, when and the support case reference, but store copies securely. Avoid sending more information than requested.
If a review is pending, ask support for the status and whether anything is missing. Keep the reply and do not make another deposit just to speed up verification.
If you suspect impersonation
Stop responding to the requester and contact Betika through the official site. If you shared a mobile-money PIN or password, change relevant credentials and contact the payment provider promptly.
Report suspicious messages to the platform involved and retain evidence without forwarding sensitive details to strangers.
